Stop Water Damage Early
Leak Detection & Repair
A hidden leak can silently destroy walls, floors, and foundations for months before you notice. Darwyn's Plumbing uses advanced detection equipment to find leaks behind walls, under slabs, and underground — then fix them right.
Our Leak Detection & Repair Services
Visible Leak Repair
Dripping faucets, leaky toilets, running supply lines, and burst pipes repaired fast with flat-rate pricing. We carry common repair parts on every truck.
Thermal Imaging Detection
Infrared cameras detect temperature differences caused by hidden moisture behind walls and ceilings — without cutting drywall until we know exactly where to look.
Acoustic Leak Detection
Electronic listening devices amplify the sound of water escaping under pressure through pipes buried in concrete slabs or underground supply lines.
Slab Leak Repair
Pipes running beneath concrete slabs can develop pinhole leaks from corrosion or shifting soil. We locate and repair slab leaks with minimal concrete removal.
Repiping Services
Old corroded galvanized or polybutylene pipes that leak chronically? We repipe entire homes or sections using modern copper or PEX piping.
Water Line Leak Repair
Leaking main water lines between the meter and your home waste water and money. We locate and repair or replace underground supply lines.
Warning Signs of a Hidden Leak
Unexplained Water Bill Spike
A sudden increase in your water bill without any change in usage is the clearest sign of a hidden leak.
Water Stains on Walls or Ceilings
Yellow or brown stains often indicate a slow leak from a pipe above or inside the wall.
Mold or Mildew Odor
Musty smells in areas with no obvious moisture source — inside closets, behind walls — indicate trapped moisture from a leak.
Unusually Green Lawn Patch
A spot in your yard that's always lush and green even in dry weather often sits directly over a leaking underground pipe.
Sound of Running Water
Hearing water when everything is off? That pressure escaping has to go somewhere.
Buckled Floors or Warped Walls
Moisture from a nearby leak causes wood floors and drywall to swell, buckle, or pull away from baseboards.
Leak Detection Serving Belleville, Granite City & Metro-East IL
Water leaks are one of the most destructive — and most underestimated — problems a homeowner can face. A small pinhole leak in a pipe inside a wall can cause tens of thousands of dollars in structural damage before it's ever noticed. Darwyn's Plumbing specializes in finding and fixing leaks that other plumbers miss, using thermal imaging cameras and acoustic detection equipment that pinpoints the exact location of a leak before we ever open a wall.
We serve Belleville, Granite City, O'Fallon, Edwardsville, Fairview Heights, Collinsville, East St. Louis, Alton, and all of the St. Louis Metro-East area. Our technicians understand the local housing stock — including the aging galvanized supply pipes common in Belleville and East St. Louis homes from the 1940s–60s, and the slab foundations prevalent in newer O'Fallon and Shiloh construction that make slab leaks a genuine risk.
Unlike a basic service plumber who might cut holes in multiple places "looking" for a leak, our process starts with the least invasive detection methods first. We use thermal imaging to reveal temperature anomalies from moisture, then acoustic devices to hear the escaping water pressure. Only once we've confirmed the location precisely do we open the wall or slab — and then only where we need to.

Leak Detection FAQ
How do you find a leak without tearing up my walls?+
We use two primary non-invasive methods first: thermal imaging cameras detect temperature differences caused by moisture behind drywall, and acoustic listening devices amplify the sound of pressurized water escaping through a pipe. We locate the leak precisely before making any opening.
What is a slab leak and how do I know if I have one?+
A slab leak is a leak in the water supply or drain pipes running beneath your concrete foundation. Signs include warm spots on the floor, the sound of running water when everything is off, unexplained spikes in your water bill, or cracks appearing in your slab. Slab leaks are common in older Metro-East homes — call us if you suspect one.
My water bill jumped significantly. Could it be a leak?+
Yes — an unexplained increase of $30 or more on a monthly water bill is one of the most common signs of a hidden leak. We can perform a pressure test and meter test to determine if water is escaping somewhere in your system.
Do you repair the leak the same day you detect it?+
In most cases, yes. Once we locate the leak precisely, we provide a flat-rate repair quote on the spot. Most pipe repairs — including opening the wall, repairing the section, and patching the opening — can be done same day.
What does whole-home repiping involve?+
Repiping means replacing all or most of the supply lines in your home with new copper or PEX tubing. We access pipes through small openings in walls and ceilings, minimizing drywall damage. The job typically takes 1–2 days. It's the right solution when your galvanized pipes are corroding chronically or when you've had multiple leaks in different locations.
Do you serve Belleville and surrounding cities for leak detection?+
Yes. We serve Belleville, O'Fallon, Granite City, Edwardsville, Fairview Heights, Collinsville, Shiloh, Swansea, East St. Louis, Alton, and the entire St. Louis Metro-East area. Same-day and emergency service available.
